Cambodia Advances Low-Carbon Building Capacity Through Seventh ALCBT Training

Phnom Penh, Cambodia, 28 August 2026 – The Asia Low Carbon Buildings Transition (ALCBT) project successfully organized the seventh Low Carbon Buildings (LCB) Training Programme in Cambodia, strengthening the capacity of over 40 professionals from the building sector. 

Participants included developers, contractors, building owners, designers, architects, energy auditors, technology and service providers, and professionals from the building materials manufacturing industry. They engaged in sessions covering key topics related to building energy efficiency, operational energy and optimization, sustainable cooling, low-carbon building planning and design, building energy codes and regulations, and ESCO business models.

The training provided participants with practical knowledge and insights into approaches for improving building energy performance, reducing energy consumption and carbon emissions, and supporting the implementation of low-carbon building solutions. Particular attention was given to the role of energy efficiency and energy service companies in supporting more sustainable building development and operation. 

Through interactive discussions and knowledge exchange, participants had the opportunity to share experiences and explore practical approaches relevant to their professional work. The training also provided a platform for networking and collaboration among professionals working across Cambodia’s building and energy sectors. 

Delivered by the Institute of Technology of Cambodia (ITC) in coordination with the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI), the ALCBT project’s training programme contributes to Cambodia’s efforts to strengthen technical capacity and promote sustainable, energy-efficient, and low-carbon building practices in support of national climate and energy objectives, including the National Energy Efficiency Policy and the Cambodia’s Third Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC 3.0). 

About ALCBT 

The Asia Low Carbon Buildings Transition (ALCBT) Project is a five-year multi-stakeholder project that seeks to reduce GHG emissions by catalysing nationwide transition towards Low Carbon Buildings in five Asian countries, namely Cambodia, India, Indonesia, Thailand, and Viet Nam.  

The ALCBT project is being implemented by the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) is partnership with the ASEAN Centre for Energy (ACE), Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL), and HEAT International. This project is supported by the International Climate Initiative (IKI) of the Federal Government of Germany. Within the Federal Government, the IKI is anchored in the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Climate Action, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMUKN).
