ALCBT India
India is one of the fastest-growing economies, with rapid urbanization driving expansion in the buildings sector, which accounts for over 32% of total greenhouse gas emissions. With nearly 300,000 square feet of commercial space added daily and the sector projected to reach trillions by 2047, decarbonization is urgent.
The Government of India has introduced key initiatives such as the India Cooling Action Plan, which targets a 25% reduction in cooling demand by 2038, and the Energy Conservation Building Code developed by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency. However, implementation challenges remain.
The ALCBT Project supports this transition by strengthening technical tools, policies, and capacity across Kerala, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh in collaboration with national and state partners. With strong growth and diverse climate conditions, these states present a key opportunity to scale low-carbon building solutions nationwide.
